Meanwhile, Barco has announced that its AV monitoring and control solution, Overture, now includes Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange. This latest update to Barco’s AV control solution uses ADFS (Active Directory Federation Services) and LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) for Cloud and On-Premise deployments respectively. These two elements offer increased security through enterprise level access control, as well as the ability to manage users and user groups in the Active Directory environment.

With the integration to Microsoft Exchange, Overture automates the power of the room and its devices based on the room schedule. The automation ensures that as participants enter their meeting, the room is set in the correct state. By reducing the steps needed to get a meeting started, Overture provides participants with a better user experience and acts as a significant time saver for everyone involved.

Once the meeting ends, the room will automatically switch off all relevant devices, increasing the life of the devices and decreasing a company’s overall power usage. If a meeting ends up not taking place, the power saving automation preset prevents unnecessary device power usage and releases the room back to Exchange as available.

Since its initial release a year ago, Barco has enhanced the Overture offering by introducing a variety of features to increase the automation functionalities of the software. The latest feature sets further enhance the capabilities of the A/V monitoring and control solution.

“Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange integrations were developed to further support enterprises with an A/V monitoring and management solution for their meeting room spaces,” states Jan van Houtte, director of product management. “We are committed to continuing to push the boundaries with software-based AV monitoring and control solution for the enterprise environment to proactively address to customer needs, at the same time maximising ROI”.
