- The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to work for a leading Audio Visual Integrator as AV Commissioning Engineer. Covering East Anglia, London and with occasional overseas travel.
Key responsibilities:
▪Commissioning of AV/IT systems at client sites to finished status
▪Modifying / Uploading code as required for control platforms, configuring DSPs and soft / hard codecs
▪Completion of commissioning reports and reporting job status to line manager
▪Offsite commissioning and testing of racks / AV/IT systems
▪Travelling to / from client sites as required
▪Handover of commissioned system to service technical lead identifying any knowledge required for the successful operation of the system.
▪Assisting with maintenance on installed systems at client sites
▪Providing remote assistance and onsite technical support for project delivery
The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning AV/IT systems at client sites, systems including :
Presentation systems, Digital Signage Systems, UC and VC systems and RichMedia (streaming) systems.
A hands-on working knowledge of IT Networking, IT Hardware and audio visual equipment including display equipment, control systems and complex audio systems plus communications protocols such as RS232 and RS485. TCP/IP network knowledge and understanding will be essential to the position, as is the ability to configure DSP / Control software and make changes to control code.
The ability to follow a schematic showing Audio Visual signals and control signals for interconnected devices is essential as is the ability to diagnose faults within the systems.
The successful candidate will be competent in the use of small hand tools and soldering for the purpose of making interconnects
Equally important will be the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical individuals.
This is a client / consultant facing role and as such the successful candidate will be expected to represent the company in a competent and professional manner.
This role will involve the occasion requirement to oversee sub-contractors of a technical nature.
Ongoing technical training and access to CTS accreditation will be provided.
Based ideally in East Anglia your role will cover East Anglia and Greater London plus occasional overseas travel.
Salary is extremely competitive - £35k-£40k doe plus company van, pension and bonuses.
Your skills and experience
For this field-based commissioning engineer role - supporting key enterprise and university clients, the successful candidate will likely have years of experience working hands on commissioning complex AV systems, still be excited by the technology, self-develop their knowledge and be keen to deliver outstanding customer service.
▪Experience of installing, commissioning and servicing commercial IT Centric audio-visual systems including projection, flat panel, control systems, power amplifiers, DSPs, audio / video matrix systems, digital and analogue signal transmission formats and soft and hard
▪Codec systems. Network configuration of routers / switches / VLANS.
▪Crestron / QSC / Cisco commissioning knowledge
▪Must be able to work unsupervised, under time pressure and to deliver outcomes to budget and required timeline.
▪Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical individuals
▪Sufficiently flexible and mobile to travel as required.
▪Self-driven and results oriented.
▪Able to work extended hours as required.
▪Able to use access equipment and physically install and commission systems into clients' sites without technical assistance
▪UK Driving licence
▪HNC/D Electronic Engineering / computing, CCENT, or equivalent.
