Description
The Opportunity

Our clients are one of the leading UK specialists in large format, digital signage, LED display specialists in the UK. They are looking to add the position of Technical Director to their team based in the North West but covering the UK.

The Technical Director is a leadership role accountable for the successful delivery of their software development, technical infrastructure and technical support team.

You will be leading a growing team of Internal and External Software Developers, Technical Specialists and Support staff and be responsible for the Development and Infrastructure budgets, technical compliance as well as working with customers to ensure their needs are met.

Managing Systems, Technical and Mechanical Design Processes

You will have strong experience in managing a team of Technical specialists across IT Infrastructure, Software Development, Applications and Audio-Visual Systems with a sound knowledge of Physical and Virtual installations and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Take Ownership, Develop and deliver a strategic technological vision and direction for the following aspects:
Ongoing Software Development
Internal and Cloud Infrastructure Systems
Vulnerability Testing Disaster Recovery
Research Development
Ensure constant delivery of software products with agile processes
Work effectively with Project Managers and Account Managers to understand our clients requirements and
manage their expectation
Management Leadership of a 24hour Technical Support Team Responsible for Technical aspects of ISO2700
Responsible for Internal IT Systems
Responsible for Internal IT Cloud Infrastructure Budget
Ensuring the team produces Technical Documentation for all Projects
Create, implement and maintain a continuous improvement plan for software development and IT Infrastructure.
Development and Leadership of all technical processes.
Responsible for managing own and teams' time.

Other Responsibilities:

Communicate with the Board to get sign-off on technical direction and investment opportunities.
Effectively manage suppliers and customers.
Identify opportunities to become more efficient and implement strategies that improve the customer experience and promote our client's Unique Selling Point (USP) providing evidence.
Work closely with Sales team to ensure Technical aspects of opportunities are understood and met.
Lead the department to ensure compliance with legislation and auditable accreditations, maintaining best practice and safe systems of work
To deliver a client focused successful end-to-end delivery of audio-visual projects.
A good technical understanding of Audio Visual solutions to assume overall control of the direction and success of projects, working in a consultative way to achieve the client objectives within budget and on time

Based in Manchester our client offers a very competitive salary doe plus car allowance and benefits.

Your skills and experience

The successful candidate will have:

A proven track record in a leadership position within an AV, IT or Software Development Business
Educated to Degree Level or Equivalent
Able to communicate both verbally and written to an excellent standard.
Able to produce documentation to a high standard
Able to work with Microsoft Project, Visio, CAD software etc
The ability and presence to liaise with clients, external consultants and project consultants at senior level.
Able to motivate and manage technical team members.

You will be expected to travel throughout the UK and between our client's offices in the North West and Home Counties - some overnight stays will be expected. Initially you will probably be working remotely.

Our client is well established as one of the UK leading large format, digital signage, LED display specialists in the UK, with a staff of 40+ people and a strong senior leadership team. They currently service the transport hub, OOH media and hospitality sectors but as part of their growth post Covid-19 are now looking to capitalise on their expertise to grow into new vertical markets such as Stadia, Arena, DOOH, Retail, QSR and Corporate.
