- The Opportunity
As an AV Systems Design Engineer, you will work on AV projects with corporate and government clients. You will produce a detailed design of bespoke AV solutions, in terms of written system specification (including equipment choice justification), costing and quotations; system installation design to be utilised by installers on site.
You will produce or help to produce system CAD drawings using AutoCAD. Part of your role will require you to work with the client and/or the company sales team to specify systems and prepare bids/quotes to win additional work. You will then support the installation and implementation of the solution, up to commissioning and handing over to the client.
You will liaise with the client and the project team at all stages to ensure their satisfaction and be available to them to resolve any issues arising. Based in the North West of England salary is negotiable circa £35k-£45k plus benefits
Your Skills and experience
To succeed in this role you will require an excellent technical understanding of the latest AV solutions, and the ability to specify an entire system from the client brief. Knowledge of the following is expected for success in the role: Audio systems design including conferencing audio, digital sound systems, public address; Video systems large screen displays, projection, video walls image processing; Control systems touchscreen controls, automation and smart building technology; Video conference systems and techniques; Audio visual system infrastructure design and planning.
This role will also require a good commercial understanding, with the ability to apply AV technology to achieve business aims. You will also require excellent communication skills, and be confident when dealing with demanding clients, building contractors, architects and other technical members of the project team.
Proven AV system design skills are essential. You are likely to be degree qualified in a technical discipline, preferably relevant to Audio Visual technologies, but professional experience is more important. Knowledge of AutoCAD software or similar would be an advantage.
