The main purpose of this role is to support and maintain all Museum AV Services and facilitate the delivery of events.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Operation of AV facilities in the Clore Education Centre, Permanent Galleries, Temporary Exhibitions, Meeting Rooms and SDDC. This will include working knowledge and use of a wide range of AV equipment, presentation media and lighting and sound systems as well as installations for Galleries and Exhibitions. This will include onsite events, hybrid events and streaming online events.
Work closely with users (internal, external, and commercial), identifying and satisfying their requirements, developing, and improving communications skills as part of this work.
Providing first line technical maintenance of equipment; capturing, understanding, and resolving problems as required, in line with best practice and agreed procedures.
To use basic technical skills to provide first line technical maintenance. To develop and enhance those skills in line with Museum needs.
Installing and maintaining a variety of equipment including and not limited to conference AV equipment, desktop PCs / Laptops, Cameras, MP3 players. PDA, HD Screens, DVD recorders, Networked Printers, etc.
Setting up and maintaining AV equipment in other areas of the Museum.
Support PCs and servers and basic networking in order to support the full audio visual service.
Evaluation of new AV technology.
To work collaboratively with the Service Operations Team for various first line support tasks and projects.
Provide cover on the IS Helpdesk, in collaboration with colleagues, responding to and recording user requests, problems and enquiries (via phone, email and face to face).
Other duties as assigned.
Person Specification:
A Levels, HND/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent work experience.
Experience of work within an AV environment such as a conference centre, university or cinema.
Working knowledge of a wide range of AV and related systems in a variety of formats, and a high level of IT literacy.
Demonstrable time management skills and an ability to work under own initiative as well as coordinate and organise users in a sensitive and diplomatic manner.
An ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of internal and external users alongside a controlled and calm approach to unpredictable and stressful situations.
Able to work out of hours and regular weekends (typically one in every four).
