Designers to discuss how AV can enhance hotel design

Six leading hospitality designers will join AVIXA CEO David Labuskes, CTS®, CAE, RCDD, during the Boutique Design West (BDwest) event in Los Angeles, from 4 to 5 April, for a roundtable discussion

on the ways audio visual technologies are transforming hotel design.

The hour-long session, titled “The Digital Revolution Meets the Modern Hotel: An Audiovisual Lunch and Learn Session,” has been approved for continuing education credits by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC). CEU credit from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is pending.

Participating panellists include: Lorraine Francis, director of hospitality interiors at Gensler; Eric Nicolas, director of design and architecture at the InterContinental Hotels Group; Jay Pecotte, senior director of design and construction at Americas Hard Rock International; Karyn Steenkamp, vice president of design and construction at Caesars Entertainment; Michael Suomi, principal at Stonehill Taylor; and Jorge Trevino, executive vice president of brand operations at Two Roads Hospitality.

“This important roundtable will continue a dialogue between the AV and hospitality industries that began in New York last July and continued at BDNY in November,” said Labuskes. “At BDwest, we will discuss how digital and audiovisual technologies are being leveraged by leading designers, architects, and brands to create unique spaces.”

“Interactive videowalls, projection mapping, positional audio, and more are the design materials of tomorrow, and are being integrated into leading hotel projects in ways that are generating greater customer engagement, increased brand loyalty, and better business outcomes,” Labuskes said. “As the trade association for the commercial audiovisual industry, AVIXA is proud to take the lead in raising awareness of the many significant benefits our members bring to hospitality design.”

The roundtable session will take place on 4 April from 12:30pm to 1:30pm in Room 304 ABC of the Los Angeles Convention Center and includes a complementary boxed lunch for the first 60 attendees.
