Promethean shows the world what immersive learning looks like at Bett

Promethean has returned to the Platinum Suite and Stand B98 at Bett 2018 with a high-profile programme of activities aligning with current education agendas such as STEM, enterprise in education, and the

future of edtech.

As part of the NetDragon family, Promethean’s presence at Bett will again include the NetDragon Platinum Suite. Bringing together companies from the wider group, the Promethean Platinum Suite allows visitors to discover the potential for AR, VR, AI, and HumaGram technologies to be applied in an education environment.

Building on the success of Bett 2017, the NetDragon Platinum Suite will give invited guests the opportunity to experience a world of immersive learning as part of a rolling presentation focusing on nine-year old Emma. Commenting on the objectives of this year’s immersive experience, Dr John Collick, senior education consultant at Promethean, said: “Every pupil has a story to tell, and in this case, we focus on Emma. When Emma grows up, she wants to be an astronaut. During the presentation, we follow her learning journey and all the positive influences, platforms, and education technologies that support her on the path to achieving her dream career.”

On Stand B98, Promethean will celebrate the opening of Bett by welcoming Promethean Grant winners from Tottington Primary School in Bury, Lancashire in the UK. Mr Simon Hunt and Jamie Berry, the teacher and pupil duo representing the school, will share their story and unveil exciting new lesson ideas that push the boundaries of edtech in the classroom.

Discussing their journey since the Promethean Grant win, Mr Hunt commented: “We love exploring new ways edtech supports teaching and learning. Winning the Promethean Grant allows us to share our ideas further than ever before. The opportunity to speak at Bett and meet with teachers is amazing. Jamie is particularly excited about being able to present new features we’ve been trialling with our ActivPanel.”

On Thursday 25h January, Year 6 pupils from Ysgol Y Ddraig, a Welsh primary school, are presenting a series of ClassFlow lessons designed and created as part of a term-long Promethean Champions competition. Mr Dorian Oldfield, tech lead at the school, explained: “This was an excellent initiative for the children. It’s given them exposure to the corporate world that wouldn’t have otherwise been possible, and being on stand at Bett is an invaluable life experience that increases their confidence.”

Stand B98 is also hosting the release of an enhanced ActivPanel portfolio. As the connected hub of the classroom, this front-of-class display solution supports the creative and engaging delivery of a wide range of curriculum subjects. A rolling seminar delivered by teachers provides tips using features such as student device mirroring and the instant whiteboard.

Meanwhile, the InGlass technology of the ActivPanel will be shown on stand demonstrating how precision and accuracy, combined with handwriting and equation recognition, provide the industry’s most elegant writing experience.

Teachers participating in the Promethean Advocate programme will also be on stand to share their experiences using Promethean’s lesson delivery software. They will share interactive learning experiences created using Promethean’s ActiveInspire and showcase the powerful feedback and polling functionality of Classflow.com, Promethean’s cloud-based lesson delivery software.

To support the launch of the enhanced ActivPanel portfolio at Bett 2018, Promethean will have a team of technical experts to address the needs of teachers and ICT Managers. The full stand team will be equipped to provide guidance on the pedagogical and network considerations associated with ActivPanel adoption.
